Location: Somewhere (not over China)

I grew up in a town with hippies, rednecks, and a reservation. My daddy was a cowboy and my mother was a Baptist. Thus, my life experiences molded me to be slightly off center at all times...sometimes right, sometimes left.

Guess Where

Okay, I don't have any thrilling thoughts. I don't even have a fabulous photo, but it is not bad. So, who has been here? If ya'll can't figure it out, I'll give you a clue that Dave can google.

Ringling, Ringling

Okay, this is a clue of sorts.... I took these pictures one day when I got off the main roads to take a picture of a deserted building. So, where was it...?
Ringling, Ringling
Slippin' away
Only forty people, livin' there today
Streets are dusty and the bank has been torn down
It's a dyin' little town

Sunsets and Varmits

Sunset is an angel weeping
Holding out a bloody sword
No matter how I squint I cannot
Make out what it's pointing toward

I got these great shots while taking a tour around Goodnight Contry near the Palo Duro Canyon. You know me and windmills!
I couldn't pass this one up. Now where I come from, we shot our share of varmits, but this Texas thing of displaying them on the fence is new to me. This particular ranch was so big there was no fence for miles, so these mesquite's pinch-hit for the fence.

Cadillac Ranch

The Cadillac Ranch, located along the tatters of historic Route 66, was built in 1974, brainchild of Stanley Marsh 3, the helium millionaire who owns the dusty wheat field where it stands. Marsh and The Ant Farm, a San Francisco art collective, assembled used Cadillacs representing the "Golden Age" of American Automobiles (1949 through 1963). The ten graffiti-covered cars are half-buried, nose-down, facing west "at the same angle as the Cheops' pyramids." I love reading the graffitti. It is the billboard for those crossing the country on I-40.
Now we call it the cadillac ranch
They're parking cars in the old feed patch
There's a bar in the barn and the place stays packed
'Til the cows come home at cadillac ranch

Where in the world?

I've always liked this photo. I know what city it was taken in and the general vicinity it was taken, but I don't remember exactly what the building was.

Guess with as much detail as you like.

Nothin' Much

I've got a few more pictures to post. This first one is outside a bar in Tijuana, Mexico. Not sure why they needed a neon sign for that information, but there it was.

This is one of the San Diego Zoo pictures that I just found. I got to wondering where my panda pictures were--I had to stand in line to see them, so I knew I took pictures. The mystery photo was a cotton bale--Heather was essentially correct with the cotton boll. I caught these modules before they got tarped.I haven't had time to work on these photo's yet, but I took this at the Cadillac Ranch in Amarillo, TX the day after Christmas.
